THERMODISINFECTION

Thermodisinfection system for containers

Thermal treatment or thermodisinfection consists of the application of a certain temperature for a specific period of time inside the container. Its objective is to eliminate pathogens present in certain goods and not admitted in the import protocols of certain countries. It is the sustainable alternative to traditional chemical spraying.

APPLICATIONS

Among the most common uses of thermodisinfection is its application in raw wood destined for China and also in a wide variety of goods destined for Australia and New Zealand to combat the BMSB (Brown Marmorated Stink Bug), as described in the protocol established by the Australian Government.
Its use is also valid in the disinfection of empty containers so that they are suitable for the loading of certain products.

The operational process is very agile. The container is positioned in the heat treatment area directly upon entry into the terminal and undergoes heat treatment (30-90 minutes). During the treatment, the temperature is recorded by means of several properly calibrated probes, placed at different points for exhaustive control. The treatment starts when all the probes reach the required temperature. These probes record the temperature every 3 seconds with 0.1ºC accuracy.
At the end of the treatment, the system itself issues a certificate in which all the treatment data are recorded: container, goods, origin, destination, temperature maintained and time.
